The C&O Canal Trust is the official “friends” group of the C&O Canal National Historical Park and works in partnership with the National Park Service to protect, restore, and promote the canal. The Trust seeks to ensure the park’s  natural, historical, and recreational potential is fully realized.

Volunteers in Action

Canal Pride Days

Join the C&O Canal NHP and its partner, the C&O Canal Trust, this spring for C&O Canal Pride Days 2010. Last year, over 700 volunteers tackled over 70 projects to help the park, everything from painting signs and picnic tables to pulling weeds and repairing trails. Canal Pride Days has projects for every age and skill level—everyone is welcomed to help. To learn more about C&O Canal Pride Days 2010, contact Jenna Warrenfeltz at warrenfeltz@canaltrust.org.

The C&O Canal Trust is an independent, nonprofit organization, which brings the resources of the community—its energy, expertise and economic capacity—to the task of protecting, restoring and promoting the C&O Canal National Historical Park. We recognize that everyone plays an important role in stewarding the Park’s natural, historic and recreational qualities. And during the C&O Canal Pride Days, we’re working in tandem with the National Park Service to engage volunteers to do just that.

With more than 700 volunteers, the first C&O Canal Pride Days in 2008 was a huge success. In fact, it was the largest volunteer effort in the C&O Canal National Historical Park since the clean-up effort following the floods of 1996.

Please show your pride for your Park today by volunteering for this year’s C&O Canal Pride Days! Completed forms may be mailed to the address listed at the top of this page. With your help, this can mark the beginning of a lasting relationship between yourself, the C&O Canal National Historical Park, and our future.
