Volunteers in Action

Canal Pride Days

Join the C&O Canal’s official park partner, the C&O Canal Trust, this spring for the 5th Annual C&O Canal Pride Days! Last year, over 300 volunteers tackled nearly 30 projects to help the park, everything from painting signs and picnic tables to pulling weeds and repairing trails. Canal Pride Days has projects for every age and skill level—everyone is welcomed to help. To learn more about C&O Canal Pride Days 2012, contact Becky Curtis.

Registration is now open for C&O Canal Pride Days 2012!
Sign-up as a group, family, or as an individual using the C&O Canal Trust online application.

A wide variety of projects along the canal are scheduled to take place over three weekends:

Saturday, April 21:  Celebrate Earth Day by helping us kick off Canal Pride Days 2012! Revitalize the campground at Marsden Tract or lay a new trail way and improve landscaping at the Great Falls Tavern.

Saturday, April 28:  Build trails and revamp picnic and recreation areas at Big Slackwater near Dam #4.

Saturday, May 5:  Spruce up Lockhouse 70 and the canal at Oldtown just in time for the annual Battie-Mixon fishing rodeo.
